Away from Home

This week I am in Kuujjuaq, the teeming metropolis of Nunavik. Not only does it have three, count'em, three stores, but it has two bars as well.

My posts may be a little infrequent this week as I soak up the local culture.

Three stores all owned by the Hudson Bay Trading Company, the Wal-mart of the frozen tundra. Soaking up local culture - shoplifting in the three stores??

Just clank two empty bottles of Laphroaig together three times while repeating "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home". It worked for Dorthy, except with shoes instead of empty hooch bottles.

To all: thanks to the confluence of events beyond my control, I've been "forced" to spend another 2 days soaking it up here in Kuujjuaq.

BTW, dutchbitch, that's pronounced COO-JEW-WACK, or if you really want to sound authentic KOOK-JEW-WHA. Or you could call it by it's old anglo name FORT CHIMO.
